Parissima Taheri-Maynard is a dedicated psychologist, educator, and community space holder based in Vienna, Austria. Born in 1990 in Miami, Parissima has deep and diverse roots in Austria, the Bahamas, and Iran.
With an academic background that includes a BA in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London, and an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies from the Tavistock Clinic, London, she returned to Vienna to further her studies in psychology, earning both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität.
Parissima currently leads the psychosocial efforts at PROSA - Projekt Schule für Alle, a school dedicated to young refugees aged 16 and above. She also lectures on anti-racist psychosocial work at the FH Campus Wien and the University of Vienna. Her work extends internationally, collaborating with teenagers and adults through various freelance contracts, both in-person and digitally.
In 2018, Parissima founded Wir sind auch Wien, a platform dedicated to the mental health of BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour). As a Black woman, she is passionate about exploring the intersections of race, social justice, and mental health, with a focus on self and community healing.
